Trains, Temptations & Trying to Feel Like Me Again
This week’s theme?
Early mornings.
Late trains.
And a general sense ofmeh.😴
🚆 Office Life: The Return of the 4:30 AM Shuffle
Two office days this week — one in London, one in Reading— which sounds glamorous until you remember it involves setting an alarm at an hour that should be illegal.
Honestly, nothing tests your willpower like standing at Paddington before sunrise, surrounded by croissants, caramel lattes, and people who seem to actually enjoy mornings. ☕🥐
I mean, what kind of sorcery is that?
Still, on the bright side — my step countis soaring. Between platform dashes, Tube transfers, and chasing the one train that left 30 seconds early (it always does), I’m practically a marathoner.
🍪 The Temptation Olympics
Office kitchens are danger zones.
The London office had biscuits. Reading had trays of doughnuts and mini cakes.
And both have colleagues who say, “Go on, just one!” while waving sugar like it’s confetti.
My inner dialogue:
“You’re strong, you’ve got this.”
“But also… free doughnuts.”
“Protein first, remember?”
“Fine, I’ll sniff it and move on.” 😅
⚖️ Weight Loss Update
📉 0.7 lb down— technically still a loss, but it feels like watching paint dry. I mean it should be more, I avoided the cakes, doughnuts AND biscuits 😡
Progress is happening, just very slowly.
And honestly?
I don’t feel like myself lately. Not in a dramatic way — just that fuzzy, off‑balance kind of feeling where your body and mood are slightly out of sync. Maybe hormones, maybe tiredness, maybe life. Probably all three.
🧠 Real Talk: Slow Weeks Still Count
These slower weeks are hard. You start questioning everything — the food choices, the workouts, the cost, the effort. But these are the moments where the real transformation happens.
Because it’s easy to show up when everything’s working.
The magic happens when you show up anyway.
📓Journaling Prompt of the Week
💭What does “feeling like myself” actually mean right now?
What are the small signs — physical, emotional, or spiritual — that remind you you’re doing okay, even if you’re not at 100%?
Write down three tiny actions that help you reconnect with “you.”
(Spoiler: One of them can totally be a long bath and a fancy candle 🕯️✨)
🦋 Final Thought
Some weeks you’re sprinting, some weeks you’re strolling — and sometimes you’re just standing still in a train queue clutching a black coffee and wondering if you’ve lost the plot.
But you’re still moving forward.
Still showing up.
Still doing the work.
That counts. Always. 💪💖
