A Christmas Panic, A Spa Escape & A 4lb Gift From the Scale
So here we are: Christmas Eve. 🎄✨
The tree is twinkling, the fridge is groaning, and I am approximately 60% made of cheese and festive confusion.
Let’s rewind a bit, shall we?
🎁 The Sister-in-Law Situation (aka Why I Now Own M&S)
The plan was simple.
My sister-in-law was coming for Christmas.
So of course, I was super organised (as always 🥇), with a lovely Ocado food delivery booked for the 22nd. Everything timed, planned, pre-logged in my app. Gold star me. ⭐
But then I woke up on the 23rd in a full-blown panic thinking, “What if I don’t have ENOUGH nice things in??”
Because, you know, what if someone wants a mini Camembert at 3pm or a handful of sugared nuts before the King’s Speech?
Cue: mad dash to M&S, where I proceeded to throw every available calorie into my basket like I was preparing for a Bake Off-themed apocalypse. 🍫🧀🥂
Two hours later…
She cancels.
She’s not coming.
So now, it’s just me, the husband… and an entire feast fit for ten.
Brilliant. Just brilliant. 🙃
🧖♀️ Spa Time = Sanity
On the plus side, I finished work at lunchtime on the 24th and made a beeline straight to the spa.
Steam room, sauna, floaty relaxation bubble in the jacuzzi. Bliss. 🫧
It was, without a doubt, the most relaxed I’ve ever felt in the lead-up to Christmas.
No cooking, no queues, no family dramas. Just me and my zen.
And possibly the faint smell of chlorine in my handbag.
10/10 would recommend a spa escape to anyone panicking over turkey timers.
💉 The Dose Debate
So, as you know, I’ve been on 5mg of Mounjaro for the last four weeks.
The official plan?
Move up again now.
The reality?
Absolutely not. 🚫🎅
Yes, I know the pharmacy recommends it.
Yes, I know there’s a schedule.
But let’s be honest—Christmas and New Year is not the time to test my body’s reaction to a new dose. Imagine vomiting over a roast potato? No thank you.
I’m having great results, no side effects, and a fridge full of danger food.
Now is not the time to rock the boat (or the cheese board).
So I politely told the pharmacy: “Thanks but no thanks—see you in January.” 💁♀️
⚖️ Weight Loss: A Festive Miracle
Despite the panic-purchasing, the M&S madness, and the looming mountain of chocolate I am trying not to nibble every time I open the fridge…
I’m down 4lbs this week. 🎉
Yes, FOUR. Like some kind of Christmas miracle wrapped in tinsel and portion control.
Maybe it was the spa. Maybe it was the stress of trying not to eat the entire contents of my “guest” snack tray.
Whatever it was—I’ll take it.
So here we are.
Christmas Eve.
No sister-in-law.
Yes to snacks.
Still on 5mg.
Still losing weight.
Still choosing progress over perfection.
And still very much eyeing up that tub of M&S chocolate almonds with suspicion. 😏
Wishing you a peaceful, pressure-free, side-effect-free holiday—however you’re spending it.
With love, mulled wine restraint, and 72 types of cheese,
Helen x
One small step at a time. 🎄🧀✨
